Triund Trek 2024, Mcleodganj Overview

Triund trek, located in the enormous and hefty Dhauladhar range and Kangra valley, offers some of the exquisite beauty of the knolls. It is also very picturesque, with staggeringly beautiful mist-shrouded views of the Kangra valley and the snow-clad Dhauladhar ranges. Triund is the ultimate spot for those looking to take a hassle-free trek of the Himalayan tops. The journey can simply be completed in a single weekend.

Triund's trail is simple but steep. The forest along the trail is teeming with songbirds, making it a birdwatcher's paradise. Given the ease of access from Dharamshala or McLeodGanj, many trekking enthusiasts go on this trek, making it challenging to indulge in the serenity of the place and can become packed with people on top during the weekends or holiday season. It is preferable to bask in the glory of this trek during the weekdays.

Inclusions:

  • Accommodation in dome tents on a shared basis
  • Meals during the trek (vegetables)
  • All necessary permits and entrance fees
  • Oxygen tanks, first aid kits, stretchers
  • Professional trek leader ( qualified climbers), guides and support staff.

Well, aren't we on our toes to start hiking? But, wait, how do we reach there?

We know you're all enthused to see Arthur's Seat, Rifle Horn,  Moon Peak, and the majestic Dhauladhar range, all of which will be visible from the start of the trek. So take out your notepad and start jotting down these details.  Dharamshala is the starting point for the Triund trek. Pathankot (Punjab) and Gaggal (Himachal Pradesh) railway stations and airports are 85 and 8 kilometres away, respectively.

Once in Mcleodganj (10 kilometres from Dharamshala), the next stop is Dharmkot, which serves as the trek's reporting point. It is one kilometre from the Mcleodganj bus stop and can be reached by walking or hiring an auto-rickshaw from the bus stop.
