How to reach?

By train- the closest railway station that serves travellers going to Mcleodganj is Pathankot Railway Station, located around 90 kilometres away.

Best time to visit Kareri Lake

Reoti, a stunning alpine meadow situated at an altitude of 8038 feet above sea level, will serve as the campsite for the day. Spend the night in Reoti Base Camp after dinner.

  • The long-anticipated day has finally arrived! Your journey to the lake's location today will take you to Minkiani Pass. For the first few kilometres, you will travel over a narrow, steep, and muddy path bordered on one end by heavily wooded mountains while on the opposite by a river valley. Since the hike is high, one can view deciduous and evergreen trees clinging to the hills and clouds surrounding the top.
  • Attitudes and difficulty levels will continue to rise with each phase. As the trails get more complex, you will have to negotiate challenging rocky routes. Another lovely meadow will serve as your campground for the night. From here, one can overlook the valley beneath and the passes of Minkiani and Baleni.

  • The trek's shortest leg will be today. As you descend the hill to Ghera, you'll notice a dramatic shift in the landscape as the woods and flora begin to swell with each step. Cabs will be available from Ghera to drop you off at Mcleodganj.
